Your First Visit

At Shank Dentistry, we want your first visit to our Indianapolis dental office to help you get acquainted with Dr. Kyle Shank in addition to taking care of your smile. We find that when patients have an opportunity to develop a rapport with Dr. Shank, they are more confident and comfortable when it comes to their dental care.

Dr. Shank will be your dentist. We keep our team small so that we can develop long-term relationships with our patients and the families we serve.

What to Expect as a New Patient

Our entire team respects your time by staying on time. Sometimes, a dental emergency or complicated procedure may throw off our schedule, but you can typically count on getting in and out of the dental office on time.

Our office features a few nice amenities like a coffee station and television in the welcome area. Our patients usually don’t have time to enjoy these options because we will get your appointment started on time.

Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional dentistry personalized for you. At your first visit to our dental office, we will collect some essential information before we get started.

  • New patient registration
  • Medical history
  • Prescription and medication list
  • Insurance information for billing

Your Initial Appointment at Shank Dentistry

Our generally healthy adult patients will receive a comprehensive exam, which includes:

  • Full exam of the teeth and gums
  • Diagnostic x-rays
  • Consultation to discuss any concerns you may have
  • Treatment recommendations and options
  • Oral cancer screening
  • Teeth cleaning

If you have cosmetic goals for your smile, this is a great time to discuss teeth whitening options, tooth-colored restorative dentistry, or even a full smile makeover.

For patients who have missed a few dental appointments or have some catching up to do, we will help you get back on track! An exam and evaluation with Dr. Shank will help us customize your dental cleaning and schedule it for a later date.

Emergency Dental Appointments

While a complete exam is ideal, sometimes life has other plans. If you experience a dental emergency, Dr. Shank will address your concerns as quickly as possible – usually on the same day.

  • Broken tooth
  • Lost crown of filling
  • Swelling
  • Tooth pain

We will address your immediate concerns and invite you back for a full exam at another time.
