At Shank Dentistry, we have a deep understanding of how tooth loss can affect our patients’ lives. Feeling limited when you smile and avoiding many foods, along with the health consequences of tooth loss you experience, can negatively impact your life in so many ways.
We offer a wide range of tooth replacement options for our patients to choose from. Your treatment is always your choice, and our goal is to help you make a choice that works well for you.
Dr. Kyle Shank creates esthetic, functional, and comfortable dentures for our patients because everyone deserves a smile they feel proud of.
Custom Partial Dentures
When you still have some remaining natural teeth, these teeth can offer an anchor to secure your partial denture. Dr. Shank will create your partial denture to match your natural teeth so that when you smile, it looks natural.
Partial denture materials include either a fixed or flexible base and artificial teeth. Your partial may be made of acrylic or metal, depending on your lifestyle and needs. Dr. Shank will help you choose teeth to complement your smile. Today’s options are much better for durability and esthetics than dentures of the past.
Oral care is always essential. When you have a partial denture, its function and longevity depends on the health of your remaining teeth. Regular dental cleanings and impeccable home care will help protect your smile for years to come.
Complete (Full) Dentures
If you have lost all of your teeth, complete dentures can provide you with a chewing surface, support your facial structure, and give you confidence when you smile. Dr. Shank can help you choose a look for your new dentures that fits your age and facial features so your smile looks natural.
Complete dentures are made of a pink (gum-colored) acrylic base and artificial teeth. Due to bone loss caused by losing teeth, you may need to have the fit adjusted periodically to help keep your denture secure. Long-term use of denture adhesives is not ideal. If you have ill-fitting dentures, we can determine if a reline or replacement would be beneficial.
Due to bone loss, denture fit can be a challenge for some patients. Dentures that move around can cause embarrassment and sores. Poor denture fit can make eating a healthy diet challenging and lead to nutritional deficiencies.
Dr. Shank offers implant-retained dentures to provide an anchor and give you greater confidence when you eat, laugh, and speak.
By placing a few dental implants, your dentures can lock into place, ensuring a worry-free, secure smile. Dental implants have the added benefit of helping to preserve valuable bone, as well.
