3 Common Oral Surgery Procedures | Shank Center for Dentistry

We offer oral surgery in our Indianapolis dental office because chances are good that many patients will need it at some point during their lives. Dr. Shank has additional training and experience in oral surgery, especially in three common ones that our patients need most often – wisdom teeth (and regular) extractions, dental implant placement, and bone grafting.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

It seems that most teenagers or college students end up going through wisdom tooth removal, except for the few lucky kids who either do not have wisdom teeth or who can keep them without them becoming symptomatic.

At Shank Dentistry, we have a secret weapon in our arsenal to make wisdom teeth easier and more predictable to extract. 3-D cone beam imaging allows us to completely plan your procedure before we even begin treatment.

Dental Implant Placement

Using our 3-D cone beam technology, we can determine the ideal location within your bone to place your dental implant post. Because of these high-resolution images, we can often avoid complication and the need for additional treatments. A 3-D image allows Dr. Shank to identify the greatest bone density to support your dental implant.

Placing dental implants and offering oral surgery in our Indianapolis dental office ensures that our patients receive high-quality, seamless care from start to finish.

Bone Grafting for Dental Implants

If we determine through 3-D cone beam technology that you do not have sufficient bone to support a dental implant, we can boost your bone density by placing donor bone at the site for your dental implant. We can often perform bone grafting at the time of your extraction, saving you an additional appointment.
